IAI welcomes Greek integrated aluminium organisation MYTILINEOS as a new member

On November 28, the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) declared that MYTILINEOS has been successfully registered as one of its members. Established in 1972, the IAI brings together global bauxite, alumina and aluminium companies in all the major producing regions under one roof by providing them membership certificates.

The Greece-based industrial conglomerate MYTILINEOS can be referred to as the most potent player in the world metallurgy sector. It is a rapidly developing company with the healthiest growth proportion in Greece for over 60 years. It is by far the hugest vertically integrated bauxite, alumina and aluminium producer in the European Union.

The General Manager of MYTILINEOS’ Metallurgy Business Unit, Mr Dimitrios Stefanidis, illustrated as he spoke: “With more than half a century of operations, we are proud to join the only body representing the global primary aluminium industry. Our Metallurgy Business Unit employs directly nearly 1.200 people and has a consolidated turnover of app. €700 m., which represents 14.8% of the Company’s total turnover (Q3 2022). MYTILINEOS has a €600 million investment injection, one of the largest private investments in the country. We will use the investment for the sustainable development of our plants.”

MYTILINEOS has operations in the gas or power sector, and it also oversees the development of power storage and renewables, but the main attraction the company has to offer is its fully integrated aluminium facilities. The leader in metallurgical sciences, MYTILINEOS, has incorporated the Greek company, Aluminium of Greece, which is the largest vertically integrated alumina and aluminium producer in the European Union. The second largest producer of bauxite in Greece, Delphi-Distomon, also has collaboration with MYTILINEOS and together, they are on the course to redefine the aluminium industry in the European Union. The company has a coalition with EPAL.ME, which is the largest independent producer of recycled aluminium.

The IAI Secretary, Miles Prosser, notified: “We are delighted to welcome MYTILINEOS as an IAI member.”
