Aluminium billet inventories in China hike by 5,100 tonnes W-o-W to 60,900 tonnes

As of Thursday, December 29, China’s aluminium billet inventories were 60,900 tonnes, recording a growth of 5,100 tonnes from the week before. The overall supply of billets remained plentiful. While the inventory in east China may increase considerably due to stocking demand and comparatively more significant conversion margins, the inventory in south China is anticipated to increase gradually.

To begin with, the inventory in Wuxi and Huzhou surged by 4,400 tonnes and 3,000 tonnes to a total of 15,200 tonnes and 15,000 tonnes, whereas stocks in other locations only saw minor adjustments. On the other hand, in Foshan, the inventory had dropped by 1,500 tonnes to peg at 25,400 tonnes from 26,900 tonnes recorded a week ago. Only in Nanchang, the inventory showed no change to score at 3,300 tonnes.

The inventory in Changzhou had slipped by 800 tonnes to 2,000 tonnes. Massive output reductions occurred at billet facilities due to declining demand and the escalating epidemic. Extruders for aluminium saw a fall in both orders and production. The overall supply of billets remained plentiful.
