Primary aluminium production in Russia & Eastern Europe improves 4% MoM during Oct’22; daily output shows no change

Primary aluminium production in Russia & Eastern Europe stood at 344,000 tonnes for October 2022, representing an increase of 3.61 per cent month-on-month. In September, the output was 332,000 tonnes, reflecting a decline of 5.14 per cent or 18,000 tonnes from 350,000 tonnes in August. That indicated Russia and Eastern Europe’s primary aluminium output growth in October followed a dip in the previous month.

On a year-on-year calculation, primary aluminium output in Russia & Eastern Europe during October 2022 edged a 2.27 per cent fall from 352,000 tonnes.

Despite an increase in monthly output in October 2022, daily average production remained restrained at 11,100 tonnes month-on-month. But on a year-on-year basis, it dropped by 300 tonnes, in line with the downfall in monthly production.

From January to October 2022, Russia & Eastern Europe produced 3.405 million tonnes of primary aluminium, down by 1.28 per cent from 3.449 million tonnes a year ago.

In West & Central Europe, primary aluminium production in October 2022 stood at 236,000 tonnes, down by only 1,000 tonnes from the previous month. In September, the output plunged by 13,000 tonnes or 5.2 per cent, from 250,000 tonnes to 237,000 tonnes.

On a year-on-year basis, West & Central Europe’s primary aluminium production in October’22 recorded a downfall of 15.41 per cent from 279,000 tonnes.

Daily average production was 7,600 tonnes in October, registering a 300 tonnes drop M-o-M from 7,900 tonnes and 1,400 tonnes fewer Y-o-Y than 9,000 tonnes.

In the first ten months of the year, West & Central Europe produced 2.456 million tonnes of primary aluminium versus 2.783 million tonnes a year earlier.
