The foundry has an annual production capacity of 50,000 tonnes of extrusion ingots, while the extrusion facility produces 90,000 tonnes of extruded products in a year.

The ASI Performance Standard certification sets environmental, social and governance principles and criteria to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It has 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Environment, Social, and Governance.

Enrico Zampedri, CEO at Metra Group, said: “Metra is a worldwide leading company in the design and manufacturing of extruded aluminium alloy profiles for construction and industrial use. Sustainability is a milestone of our business. In the short and long term, our strategy of growth must be inspired by principle of sustainability: our commitment responds to our society’s and our planet’s needs. The material we work is crucial along the path of humanity towards sustainability: aluminium plays a leading role in the construction of sustainable buildings with low environmental impact, and it will also be a key factor in lightweighting the world of transportation. The ASI certification increases the reputation of Metra Group and protects both its employees and its customers, who are, more and more, demanding socially responsible production processes.”

The World of Aluminium Extrusions

Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI, said: “We sincerely congratulate Metra Holding S.p.A. on achieving ASI Performance Standard Certification at its Rodengo Saiano foundry and extrusion operations. The expectations of downstream sectors supplied by these plants, including building and construction, automotive, transport, energy and infrastructure, are increasingly going beyond quality requirements to include sustainability issues. This ASI Certification demonstrates that the plants operate to industry-leading ESG criteria.”

The independent, third-party audit of the Metra Holding S.p.A. operations was carried out by Bureau Veritas Certification.
