Alpha HPA temporarily closes its Gladstone facility for up-gradation

The Australian supplier of high purity aluminium products, Alpha HPA, wishes to make at least 10,000 tonnes of HPA each year and additional high purity components utilising its HPA refining technology and solvent extraction procedure. Though Alpha is working towards three orders in Brisbane currently, the facility is under lockdown following the installation of roller doors, clads and roofs.

While looking after the construction of its stage one precursor facility in Gladstone, Queensland, Alpha HPA has promised to deliver its first round of high purity aluminium precursors in the third quarter nearing September, in addition to its HPA First Project.

The primary electrical installations will be furnished, with lights hanging outside and inside the facility. The wiring of the main switchboard to the motor control centres will be accomplished soon.

After the delivery of the final modules to the site, mechanical installation of the front-end solvent extraction also began to get complete.

The site has secured a deal with the Gladstone area water board for portable water required in the development of the facility.

Following the promotion of its HPA products worldwide, the company received several product orders, with only 12 test orders sent from its Brisbane demonstration during the last two weeks to consumers in South Korea and Europe.

The Managing director of Alpha, Rimas Kairaitis exclaimed that the company is being heavily supported by the prevailing stream of demand from end-users.

"The capacity to directly interface with customers, combined with strong government support, near-term production and Alpha's market-leading product continues to build our brand," he said.

At present, Alpha HPA is stressing to deliver three orders from Brisbane; first, high volume 300kg+ orders of sintered HPA pellets for sapphire glass growth, secondly, high purity gamma-alumina and high purity boehmite samples for the catalyst sector and lastly, high purity nano alumina samples for micro-LED phosphor synthesis.

Alpha has developed a method to produce ultra-fine, high purity nano alumina that is applied in lithium-ion battery’s electrode particle coatings.
