Sweden’s export of aluminium scrap during 2019-20 reflects a marginal growth; 2021 estimated with further minimal rise

The economy of Sweden is regaining its movement, with projected GDP growth close to 4% in 2021 and 3½% in 2022, on the back of rising exports, which boost manufacturing production and investment, and strong fiscal and monetary support.

The Scandinavian nation with thousands of coastal islands and inland lakes, Sweden recorded 290,813 tonnes of aluminium scrap export during 2019-20 and the earnings raised from the scrap export remained at $236.26.

In 2019, the country’s aluminium scrap export was registered at 143,678 tonnes and the earnings accounted for $127.95 million, whereas, in 2020, the export saw a rise by 2.40%, as the export volume grew to 147,135 tonnes, while the earnings plunged to $108.31 million.

The export for 2021 is predicted with a further minimal rise by 0.07%, as the export volume is analysed to stand at 147,242 tonnes and the earnings to remain at $111 million.

Sweden’s major trading destinations for the exportation of aluminium scrap are Austria, Belgium, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Latvia, Malaysia, Poland, Switzerland, etc.
