The economy of Portugal is ranked 42nd in the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Report for 2017–2018. The great majority of international trade is done within the European Union. The Portuguese economy bailed out by the European Union nine years ago, is booming. It is enjoying its highest economic growth in nearly two decades.
Portugal’s import-export of aluminium foil reflects a continuous growth during 2017-20, though the import market remains extremely strong when compared to the export of aluminium foils.
The southern European nation’s aluminium foil import during 2017-19 has been recorded at 26,082 tonnes and the revenue expenditure stood at $103.65 million. The estimated import for 2020 has been analysed at 10,505 tonnes and the expenditure might reach $42.41 million. When the projected import volume and expenditure of 2020 gets summed up with the previous three years it reflects 36,587 tonnes and $146.06 million respectively.
In 2017, the import of aluminium foil stood at 6083 tonnes and the expenditures remained at $22.16 million, whereas in 2018 the aluminium foil import saw growth by 61.51%, as the import volume rose to 9825 tonnes and the expenditures also grew to $39.94 million.
The aluminium foil importation during 2019 also showcased a positive moment by 3.55%, as the import volume stood at 10,174 tonnes and the expenditures were climbed to $41.55 million, while the projected import for 2020 has been evaluated with 3.25% growth, as the import to reach at 10,505 tonnes.
Portugal’s import of aluminium foil has been from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, Poland, Sweden, Turkey, UK, etc.
The country’s aluminium export during 2017-19 has been recorded with 8395 tonnes and the earning remained at $13.70 million. The forecasted export for 2020 has been at 3807 tonnes and earning to stand at $4.94 million. However, when the evaluated export volume and earnings of 2020 get added with the preceding three years it displays 12,202 tonnes and $18.64 million respectively.
In 2017, the export remained at 1283 tonnes and the earning stood at just $2.44 million, while in 2018 the export surged by 185.26%, as the export volume rise to 3660 tonnes and the income jumped to $6.17 million.
The aluminium export in 2019 saw a dip by 5.68%, as the export volume dropped to 3452 tonnes and earnings also down-sized to $5.09 million, whereas in 2020 the evaluated export volume again saw growth by 10.28%, as the volume might incline to 3807 tonnes, however, the earnings are expected to drop at $4.94 million.
Portugal’s major trading nations for exportation of Aluminium foil are Angola, Cape Verde, Canada, France, Mozambique, Spain, UK, etc.
