Klaveness Digital delivers technology solution to ALBA for methodical arrangement of Shipments

Klaveness Digital, the Norwegian technology company that assist shipping and logistics into the future to empower industrial companies to make better-informed decisions, delivered a solution that improvised Alba to arrange their shipments more methodically, evading collisions during berth and will give provide them live updates on the estimated time of arrivals.

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) invariably ranks as one of the largest and most modern aluminium smelters in the world based in the Kingdom of Bahrain and is a major contributor to the social, industrial and economic development of the Kingdom. Presently Alba is employing over 3000 people and importing the major raw material dry bulk of about 3 million metric tonnes annually.

The challenge Alba was facing is the composite manual procedure, data entry converted to spread-sheets and lack of transparency created a complex situation for industrial companies to source raw materials by sea to adjust supply disruptions.

Klaveness Digital conducted a case study on Aluminium smelters in the Middle East and Arabian Gulf three years ago, which imparted the possibility of substantial savings through enhanced collaboration, increased transparency and access to real-time data.

The case study has been an eye-opener and it gradually churned into a vision of a digital logistics platform capable of changing the way stakeholders in the industry interact by replacing manual processes and spreadsheets with real-time collaboration and actionable insight.

Alba was one of the initial companies to adopt the CargoValue solution. After testing the concept with Alba and other clients in the Aluminium industry, Klaveness established a dedicated technology company to spearhead the development of the logistics platform.

Today, Alba has managed to replace manual processes and spreadsheets with the CargoValue solution, streamlining their processes and improving the overall efficiency of their supply chain.

We stay alerted to vessel anchorage and any deviations in course real-time.”
