UC Rusal, the Global Aluminium Producer, has been operating Windalco Alumina in St Catherine has declared safety measures in relation to the spread of COVID-19.
The company came out with clear communication that in order to ensure the health and safety of all employees effective 17th March’20, employees from head office and staff who are not involved in the production process will be working from home.
The rest of the operations will remain to be continued without any interruption.
The company outlined that exceptions will only be made in the instance when the tasks cannot be performed without coming to the office.
As per a company spokesperson: “Only those employees whose presence is indispensable to ensure the production is uninterrupted will be present at the production sites.”
The company came up with a request towards its staffs who are working from home, not to attend public functions or unnecessarily go to public places. Workers on business trips were told to return as soon as possible.
At the same time, the company said it was “doing everything possible to ensure the maximum protection of its staff at all production sites. Additional disinfection measures will be put in place at the sites and all the medical staff have been fully alerted and briefed.”
Evgenii Nikitin, UC Rusal’s CEO said: “The current health situation does not only create a serious challenge for the whole economy but above all, it puts our employees at risk. Our health depends on our quick and clear actions. Only by joining forces will we stand a chance of stopping the virus. Rusal has introduced unprecedented measures across the whole company in order to ensure the uninterrupted production process and to protect our employees”
