The building comprises a huge floor size of 8000 square metres and it is erected in a new industrial area of Castlecliff.

It took two long years to develop the building. It is also the head office for Wight Aluminium, the largest suppliers of aluminium windows and high-rise facades in New Zealand.

Damon Wagstaff, Whanganui-based company director said: “Wight Aluminium had grown considerably, particularly in the last five years.”

The total staff strength of the organization is 120, out of which 60 staffs are based at Whanganui. Wight Aluminium a year ago opened another new purpose-built factory in Hamilton, and in Auckland, the company owns its design and project management office.

The General Manager of Wight Aluminium said that Whanganui has been kept as production unit as the company started its operations from here and has a stable workforce.

The new factory also reflects the company's confidence in the New Zealand building industry and in this region as a high-value and strategic location.

Most of its product is used outside Whanganui and in the North Island, especially in Wellington and Auckland.

Global Aluminium Industry Outlook 2020

The establishment of the large manufacturing plant and head office concentrates all of Whanganui's Wight Aluminium operations in one place. Previously the company had three different operating sites in town.
